I started publishing Fanfictions in 2004. It was a Star Wars fic, and it was about Anakin and Padme. It was short and, and it was my first attempt at being an author. My World in September of 2004, I started college. I was in communication with a friend that was a stressful relationship. I met Jman and started a relationship with him. I also started a new job in October.
Fanfictions were my escape. As I mentioned before when my world gets crazy instead of diving into God’s word, I tumble headfirst into fictional worlds.
Okay, I can hear you asking, what’s a fanfiction? Are fanfictions a thing? There is a lot of mixed view of the term fanfiction. Fanfictions are written works about fandom. Fandom is the word to describe a subculture where fans talk together and show empathy and commanderies. There are hundreds of fandoms.
Along with Fandom comes shippers. Now shipping is when you like two characters and see the chemistry and hope they end up in a relationship together. We use term ship or shipping as a verb and then create ship names for those two characters. It is usually a combination of their name.
I wrote and published Fanfictions on two sites, Fanfiction.net, and Archive of our own. My Username for FF.net is QueenPeacock and on A03.com RoguePrincessDanie86. Now let’s talk about the names of these user names. Remember that stressful relationship I mentioned earlier. Well, this friend and I were always together, and he was very encouraging about writing. He was a writer. And I was in high school I thought we would be like Gilbert and Anne, chums and then beaus. However, a lot of circumstances lead me to lose my friendship with this gentleman. One major one I moved across the state, Well one day were playing clue, and I picked Peacock, and later my friend told me that he had a dream about me being a queen and everyone being my slave. Well, QueenPeacock just seems to fit. As life got busy and I met Jman, My writing dwindled down to nonexistent, and I, however, continued reading and being part of the fandoms I loved. A03 or Archive of Our Own is another fandom site where writers publish their fanfics, and this user name was more straightforward. Rogue for Rogue from the Xmen. Princess for Disney Princesses or Princess Leia. Danie because I’m Danie.
I think writing fanfictions was that first step of bravery to publish my thoughts online. It was the first step to be accepting of people’s criticism. I am the type that if you say something in a negative tone toward me, I will backtrack to make you happy. Fanfictions gave me the experience to write a blog. Life is still crazy, and I always fall head first into fandom. But Blogging has helped me process my world better than fanfiction ever did. It helps me handle what my emotions feel and how toward life circumstances. I know that my readers also enjoy my outlook on life. And For someone who dreamed of publishing a book. This blog has satisfied this need. So again thank you for reading.
