New Firsts, New Milestones

Happy Poetry  Saturday Friends,

Today I’m grateful. Grateful for my life, grateful for getting through Halloween again, grateful for life. Throughout life, milestones are measured and when you are a cancer patient those firsts are worth  rejoicing.

Today’s poetry is one of my own. It’s titled New Firsts, New Milestones.

New Firsts, New Milestones by Danie Weaver

New firsts, new milestones

First haircut

Joys fills my heart

First vacation

Relief fills my lungs

New firsts, new milestones

First retreat

Solace fills my soul

First family trip

Freedom fills me a sense of peace

New firsts, new milestones

First roller coaster

Fills me with fear

First trip to the zoo

Fills me with strength

New firsts, new milestones

First Christmas

Fills my heart with tradition

First birthday

Fills my brain with thankfulness

New firsts, new milestones

First day back in church

Fills me with tears of strength

First wedding

Fills my love for friends

New firsts, new milestones

First Disney movie

Fills my world with normalcy

First vacation with him

Fill my heart with love and freedom

New firsts, new milestones

First PET scan

Fills my veins with courage

First year away

Fills my heart with peace

New firsts, new milestones

First communion

Fills my soul with wonder, thankfulness and awe

First taste of grape juice

Fills my heart with old memories

New firsts, new milestones

First day back to work

Fill my bones

With resolve and strength

New First, New Milestones

First long walk

Fills me with strength

First deep breath

Fills me with belief

New firsts, new milestones

First wave of peace

Fills me with faith that you are near

First new job

Fills me with an attitude with I can do anything

New first’s new milestones

First story shared

Fills me with remembrance and determination

First warrior met

Fills me with compassion

New first’s new milestones

First hug from an acquaintance

Fills an unbreakable bond

First good luck

Fills my heart with hope

New firsts, new milestones.

Habakkuk 3:4-6

His splendor was like the sunrise;

   rays flashed from his hand,

   where his power was hidden.

5 Plague went before him;

   pestilence followed his steps.

6 He stood, and shook the earth;

he looked, and made the nations tremble.

The ancient mountains crumbled

   and the age-old hills collapsed—

   but he marches on forever.

TTFN and God Bless you and Keep You.
