I pray for Quiet

When the World is Loud

By Danie Weaver

When the world is loud

I cover my ears

I pray for quiet

And something to drown out the noise.

When the world is loud

I feel exposed

Every sinew, touch inflamed and raw

I pray for quiet

And something to drown out the noise.

When the world is loud

I turn up the positive music

Hoping for the guidance

And explanation why I am

So sensitive

I pray for quiet

And something to drown out the noise.

When the world is loud

I fake a smile

Even though my heart is hurting

I pray for quiet

And something to drown out the noise.

When the world is loud

And a mean person

Gets the better of me

Stealing my joy

I pray for quiet

And something to drown out the noise.

When the world is loud

I get mad at myself

Because my heart latches

On to fancies

Then crashes down

I pray for quiet

And something to drown out the noise.

When the world is loud

I cry at silly things

Like characters leaving

I pray for quiet

And something to drown out the noise.

When the world is loud

I need to remember

Not to listen to the

Evil one’s voice

And give into the lies

He tells

I pray for quiet

And something to drown out the noise.

When the world is loud

I look toward the sky

Hoping to see God’s face

And hear him say

“Hush child.You are okay.

You are okay just the way I created you.

It is the world that is different. You are special.”

I pray for quiet

And something to drown out the noise.

John 3:17

17 God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.
