Music I’ve been listening to
Hi Friends, How are you today? How is life treating you today? I have been reflecting on my life since I moved and how things are different and how some things are the same. One thing that is always constant in my life is music.
My mother brought us up on a steady diet of Christian Contemporary music. Artists like Newsboys, DC Talk, Switchfoot, Avalon, and Third Day were staples in our household. My dad listened only to 70 music (Which if I’m being honest is not my favorite). Since I’ve matured my music tastes have expanded to Country(Thanks to my husband), Disney music has always been a mainstay and broadway musicals.
I have learned that just listening to positive music can turn a bad day around into a better day.
Here is some music I have been listening to:
- Carrie Underwood- My Savior
This Cd is all old hymns and it’s beautiful. It has been a mainstay recently. I am a lover of old hymns just because of the poetry of those hymns. Carrie’s soul singing voice adds new life to these beautiful songs. My Favorite songs from this cd are Come Thou Fount, Blessed Assurance, Old Rugged Cross.
- Chris Tomlin, Thomas Rhett, Florida Georgia Line- “Thank You Lord”
This Song just reminds me during whichever season we are in, it important to give thanks. Even when I am struggling. God still provided so many things that I need to remember to give thanks for.
- TobyMac- “Help is on the Way(Maybe Midnight)”
This song is amazing. Jman, my husband loves TobyMac, and I have come to love his sound as well. This song reminds me that God is working and that he is pursuing a relationship with me. Throughout my life, my quiet time has been either non-existent or very strong. Since my move, I have needed to have a quiet time with God a couple times a week. This song reminds me to God pursues me when I pursue him. God is working in things that I can’t see.
- TobyMac- Funky Jesus Music
This song is just a feel-good, Christian song that you dance to while baking or working. It’s just fun.
- TobyMac/ DC TALK- Love Feels Like
This song is a mix of My Husband’s favorite music and a call back to my mom listening to DC Talk. This song reminds me that Love is hard and draining sometimes but in the end, it is so rewarding. It also reminds me to have patience and let God do his work.

Positive music makes all the difference. It is that reminder that God loves me, he is working and helping. And sometimes faith is hard but makes me more mature.
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
