Adjusting my life for Fear

Good Morning Friends, I had a cold last week and needed to breathe. If you haven’t noticed, the world has gone a little crazy. I spent all week compartmentalizing my fear and reassuring myself that this fear is like the fear I have that my cancer will come back. It is a fear that I see every day; however, I don’t acknowledge it. I can’t; otherwise, the alarm will cause me to drown. I did very well last week, avoiding what was happening in the world. Until 11 o’clock Friday when my husband’s job told us they would be closed for the next 3 weeks, at the same time all my tv shows said that they were ending their seasons early.

My carefully compartmentalizing was now dumped out and a mess of emotions. I almost had a meltdown at work.

I did what I always do. I called my husband, and he helped me understand what the problem is.

I am often struck with how often I adjust my life because of fear. I know right now the world is adjusting their world because of fear.

I am the type to avoid something if it makes me afraid. Like most people do.

When I first moved into the apartment I’m living in now, I avoided parking my car in our spot because I didn’t want to hit something. I had a horrible driving career. However, after days and days of deciding that I cannot let this fear rule my life. I can park in our spot. Now parking isn’t hard.

The Bible declares many times to not be afraid. To cast all our fears on him, and he will deliver peace. Or God will provide strength.

In My experience, the only combatant for fear is prayer. Prayer. Prayer is the only way to keep the demons of fear away. And the strength that God sends during times of fear is otherworldly. It’s the strength to park a car without hitting the poles, it is the strength to tell a complete stranger from no laying a hand on me. It is the power when everything seems to be falling apart to reach out to others and invite them to pray for you. It’s also the strength that the world will not cave in when.

Life throws curves balls, and the only way to approach it is through prayer.

Matthew 6:9-13 New International Reader’s Version (NIRV)

“This is how you should pray.

“‘Our Father in heaven,

may your name be honored.

10

May your kingdom come.

May what you want to happen be done

On earth, as it is done in heaven.

11

Give us today our daily bread.

12

And forgive us our sins,

just as we also have forgiven those who sin against us.

13

Keep us from sinning when we are tempted.

Save us from the evil one.

TTFN and God Bless and Keep you
