Good Morning Friends, how was your weekend? Mine was relaxing and at times, frustrating. However, sometimes, life is both frustrating and relaxing. I know I have said this before, but I am a Shipper. It doesn’t mean that I ship packages (Which I occasionally do. Even though I tend to buy more than I send). No Shipper in fandom speak says that I hope for a couple to end up together. I have been a shipper since a little girl, watching shows like Anne of Green Gables and hoping Anne would come to her senses and fall for Gilbert Blythe.
Throughout the years, I have been disappointed by ships, and then moved on and shipped again. However, I have learned somethings from these fictional character relationships that I think can be applied to real-life love stories.
. People do crazy things when they are in love.
People do crazy things when they are in love. Whether it be giving your boyfriend the money you saved up so he could have a job that required 200.00 dollars and expecting no payment back or moving across a state to be closer to each other. People do crazy things when they are in love. Just like Hercules and Meg said in the Disney Classic, being in love often leads to people doing things that are outside the norm.
Love has no boundaries.
Now Ariel and Eric didn’t come right out and say this in the Disney Classic. However, after Eric learned that Ariel was mermaid, he chased Ariel down and saved her from the sea witch. Love is not defined by boundaries.
Love also means standing by their side.
Not behind them right beside weathering the storm side by side. There is no hierarchy about who is in charge. Love means being partners. Making decisions together. In the tv show Smallville, Clark encouraged Lois by saying that she wasn’t behind him but by his side. Love is when you stand by your loved one regardless of what is coming at you.
Love is about being Partners
In the tv show Bones, Bones and Booth love grew out of being partners working together, experiencing life together. And somedays disagreeing with each other but knowing that partnership is more important. They were committed to each other, even when they disagreed.
Love is standing by the others when trouble comes.
Love does not run when trouble comes. In a Walk to Remember, Landon stayed with Jamie. He stayed with her through all the sickness. Landon even married her. He stayed with her. Throughout everything, he stayed and took care of her.
Finally, Unconditional Love is not found in a ship.
Unconditional love is not found in a ship. All the TV writers and novelists in the world can not explain unconditional love the way that God shows love. Unconditional love is the love that God reveals. He is a loving father who gives humanity a chance after chance to redeem themselves. He sent his only son to save the world. God loves us, and sometimes love means saying No. Because God knows what best for us.
Psalm 36:5 Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds.
