Being a Collector

Being a Collector

Being a Collector

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; this is a statement that I have believed it’s true. However, I often find things beautiful different from others. My apartment decorated with pictures, geeky things and Christian and other trinkets I find appealing. Such as Funko Pops. These small vinyl figures from different fandoms I would look at in stores and always decide that this, not something I want to spend money. Then a friend of mine gave me one, and that broke my rule. Now I collect them.

I have always been a collector. They are finding trinkets that mean something to me and usually make me smile. Collecting is something that takes time and money but also space and boxes when moving. And is not something that should go into willy nilly. There is always a sacrifice with collecting. More things to dust, things get broken, and sometimes things change, and I change so my collections vary.

My favorite pieces are pieces that I have that someone gave to me and another person gave me, and they go together. Like we have Wonder Woman and Batman figurine that one of our friends gave us, then someone else gave us a Batman canvas which lights up. Now it could be that our friends pay proper attention.

Collecting takes time and a keen eye. It also takes me to places that I wouldn’t have traveled on my way without being a collector.m There are also discoveries that I made in stressful situations that brought comfort. Things I find beautiful are not what everyone else finds attractive.

I genuinely believe that collecting has helped broaden my horizons. I have tried some things that I wouldn’t have tried like going to Comic-Con. I have also walked into the store that I wouldn’t go  Discovered comic book shops in small towns and saw the world through hunting for trinkets.

There is order to my collections and joy in the unusual. There is money spent, but at the end of the day, that’s okay because my collections make me smile. They bring me joy and finally help see a glimmer of beauty in a dark world.

James 1:5 If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for the asking.

TTFN and God Bless you and Keep you
