Somethings I’ve learned from Being a Red Head

I’m a redhead. Or I guess the millennial term is Ginger. I have to admit that being called a redhead used to irk me. It was something my siblings did to distinguish me from others. Now it doesn’t annoy me as much as it uses too but it. However being a Red Head, I have learned a few things throughout my life that I would love to share with you

First Sunscreen is no Joke. And not something to forget.

I burn like a tomato. I have had sunburns that blister and are super painful. There is one thing I will always okay buying on Vacation is sunscreen. Jman has that skin tone that can tan, I don’t tan, just burn or freckle more. I should invest aloe and Sunscreen stock. We prefer the spray on sunscreen the best because when we are on vacation, we can take in our pack and reapply it throughout the day. Which We do!!! I am kind neurotic about sunscreen.  Whenever we travel, we carry both Sunscreen and ALoe vera gel. Aloe soothes my sunburn and helps the healing process.

2. There are a lot of characters who are evil redheads.

This is a trope that I’m tired of. Just because redheads are unique doesn’t mean we are evil.  I can’t tell you that how many time’s I’ve yelled at the tv about the redhead being in the show. It is funny how my hair color can lead writing to be written as an evil person. I know we redheads are unique, but I’ve never met an evil one.

3. Being a redhead means I meet a lot of people.

I can’t tell how often people approached me when I was younger to tell me my hair is pretty. Women and girls alike would say to me that my is so beautiful and not to dye. I was always grateful but never thought it drop-dead gorgeous like some have claimed it to be. Its thick and curly and bothers my face when I wear it down. My favorite way to wear it is braided. Braided my hair has always been one of my favorite ways of wearing my hair.  However, I’ve never wished away hair, 1 I because I’ve read Anne of Green Gables, Anne dying her hair green has stayed with me, but 2. This is how God made me. This what God spent time on creating and this is one of the reasons I’m grateful when people tell me it’s pretty.

4. I do have a temper, but I work really hard to let me define me.

I have a temper. I’ll admit this. I work very hard not to let it define me. I have worked very hard not to let get the better of me. The bible says that an untamed tongue is the worst weapon ever. I strive to work on my temper. Often it is always easier to release my anger than it it is to hold it in check. But the damages that follow are worst than anything else.  So I strive to keep my temper in check.

5. I am one of a kind.

I have red hair. My eyes are brown.  These are how my heavenly father made me, and I revel in how God created me.  God made me this way, and that’s very special.

Psalm 139:14

14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!

Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.

TTFN and God Bless and Keep you 🙂
